Blacksmiths cottage offers a cosy holiday base in the attractive village of Gillamoor on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors. The cottage has been carefully and sympathetically converted retaining all its charm and character with its original oak beam structure and superb blacksmiths forge fireplace.
The small, unspoilt farming village of Gillamoor is famous for its 'Surprise View' that reveals a breathtaking panorama across Douthwaite Dale to the moors above Farndale and Hutton le Hole. With such spectacular scenery on the doorstep Blacksmiths Cottage is a superb base for walking, touring and relaxing.
In this area walks are in abundance, many starting from the cottage door. Rievaulx Abbey, Nunnington Hall and Castle Howard are just some of the visitor attractions within easy reach of the cottage and, of course, the dramatic North Yorkshire Heritage coast with its quaint fishing villages and the historic port town of Whitby are all a short drive away.
